Mike Rose - Social Studies Teacher and Model United Nations Coach

Michael “Mike” Rose was a Miramonte High School social science teacher from 2013 to 2020, a role in which he taught Law and Society. Expanding the program from 23 to 200 students, he coordinated with the English department and interdepartmental team members in fostering cross-curricular collaboration. Mike Rose’s accomplishments as a teacher extended to increasing library resources and new book titles, and boosting opportunities for authentic growth.

Mr. Rose also oversaw the launch of a Model United Nations (UN) program that earned top 20 ranking worldwide. Students participating in the Contra Costa County Model UN Conference took home honors such as the Outstanding Small Delegation Crystal Gavel Award. He holds a master’s in education from St. Mary's College, and received Student Teacher of the Month distinction while a graduate student.

Mr. Rose has a background as a scholar-athlete and follows college basketball, pro football, and the National Hockey League. He was a FanSided sports writer for several years and covered basketball games of the St. Mary's College Gaels, as well as the Oakland Raiders. A travel enthusiast, Michael Rose also enjoys hiking and golfing in his free time.
